idem cooperates for 24/7/365 monitoring of reefer and security cargo with TCS from Munich
Food and ever more high-quality chemical and pharmaceutical products are transported by temperature controlled trucks. In addition there is road haulage of eminently sensitive, high quality products such as computer chips and tobacco. Consequently, the demand for technical solutions to protect sensitive cargo is increasing.
idem’s TControl Hardware Series offers professional gear for all reefer types. Together with TCS they can now instantly be outfitted with full-service monitoring. Hereby, the cargo is at all times monitored by TCS - professionally and with the necessary know-how.
The tkv* Transport-Kälte-Vertrieb GmbH, also known by the trademark Thermo King Süd, is offering its customers professional remote monitoring of temperature-controlled transports, since summer of 2010. While so far the main focus of the Ulmer reefer specialist was on monitoring the cargo bay’s temperature, tkv* takes it up a notch. With the newly incorporated subsidiary "tcs* thermo control services GmbH" tkv* guarantees a comprehensive theft and route control. This includes in particular the active remote surveillance of location and the vehicles themselves, as well as intervention for route deviations and unaccounted vehicle movements. In case of burglary, robbery or theft the tcs* immediately alerts the relevant authorities or security services Europe-wide, utilizing the appropriate language service provider. The new security service provider based in Unterföhring near Munich supports if necessary, the Europe-wide investigation and creates documents for public authorities and insurance companies (secondary evidence). Tcs* thermo control services is headed by Achim Bundy, one of two managing directors at tkv*, and Thomas Herbst, CEO of the security specialist CSM Continental Security Management GmbH in Unterföhring.
"In the future we will concentrate our transport and temperature monitoring activities into the newly formed subsidiary tcs*", explained tkv* CEO Achim Bundschuh the strategic direction of the new company. "This means we can offer our customers the first integrated temperature and security solution for temperature-controlled transports. With this service tcs* accommodates the increasing monitoring demand for high value and temperature-sensitive cargo. Hence, shippers and freight forwarders are in a comfortable position efficiently meeting increasingly stringent documentation requirements, as well as complying with insurance companies’ requirements. "While there are numerous control centers and sophisticated intervention plans for the classical safety transport, these are so far largely lacking for temperature-controlled transportation", said Achim Bundschuh. "We are now closing this gap with the tcs*".
The services offered by tcs* covers the three areas temperature, theft and route monitoring. As part of the temperature monitoring tcs* ensures the active monitoring of all reefers - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The tcs* creates standardized intervention plans, takes action if the temperature deviates from the set point, alerts the driver and organizes the necessary service works in case of disruptions, and this Europe-wide with a comprehensive network. The package includes the documentation of alarms and intervention measures and the creation of temperature reports.
Tcs* anti-theft monitoring includes active remote tracking of the location by GPS and the door status of the vehicles. In case of route deviations and unaccounted vehicle movements, the tcs* monitoring team intervenes immediately. This is how the service provider alerts local authorities or security services in case of burglary or theft. This is done Europe-wide utilizing the appropriate language service provider matching the national language – even actively assisting investigative work. For secondary evidence tcs* creates documentation for local authorities and insurance companies, if necessary. The tracking feature rounds off tcs* security package. It includes setting monitored routes and timetables, as well as their active monitoring. In case of deveations the tcs* team reacts immediately and on top handles the making of route histories and reports.

The monitoring department is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
